Winter/Holiday Date Ideas

 In Blog

Winter doesn’t have to restrict your weekend plans to laying on the couch with your significant other, watching the same TV shows. It’s time to spice things up and try one of these holiday date ideas that will have you wishing it was cold year round!

  1.     Baking class– Who doesn’t love baking during the holidays? Cookies, pies, and muffins, galore! If you’ve never attended a cooking or baking class, now is the time to try it. It makes a fun date for two or more, and best of all, you get to keep (and eat) what you make! Or, just throw on an apron, and pick out a favorite recipe right at home. It’s the perfect last-minute, romantic date idea that even beginner chefs can enjoy.

  1.     Ice skating– There’s a reason you often see couples in movies going ice skating—there’s nothing more romantic than spending the night on the ice with a loved one! Do something different this weekend and visit a local ice rink to get your skate on. It’s inexpensive, fun, and you don’t need to have any of the equipment. Renting skates is pretty cheap, and you’ll have a great time—even if you do fall down a few times!

  1.     Dance class– It’s cold. Warm up with some dance moves! Taking a couples’ dance class is a great way to bring back the romance and stay connected. Learn a new dance together, and then practice it. Not only will you have fun, but you’ll be able to impress everyone at the next wedding or get-together on the dance floor!

  1.     Recreate the night you met– This one’s a bonus for those winter lovers! Did you and your significant other meet or start dating in colder weather? Bring the romance alive by recreating the night you met, that snowy night 3 years ago. Add a fun activity to complete the date, like a sleigh ride. You’ll be kissing under the mistletoe in no time!

  1.     Bartend for the night– Ask any bartender, and they’ll probably agree that winter cocktails are some of the best drinks around. Try your hand at some of your favorite seasonal drink recipes, like mulled wine, spiked cider, or even hot chocolate. Not only do they taste amazing, but they’ll keep you warm, too!

  1.     Personalized gift-making– Not a dancer, drinker, or baker? Maybe you’re an artist! (Even if you’re not, this is still fun.) Buy a cheap, plain white mug from a store for each of you to decorate. Use oil-based sharpie markers to create a personalized picture, quote, or message on the mug. Bake them according to these instructions, and then after the big reveal, exchange the mugs as a gift!

Whether you want to spend the night in, or need to get out of the house, any of these holiday date ideas will be a ton of fun for you and your significant other. In the end, it’s all about spending quality time together and enjoying the company of a loved one. What were your favorite cold weather date ideas?
