Casino-Slot-MachineWho needs the movies when you’ve got exciting live acts right at your doorstep? Well, Sands Casino Resort isn’t exactly across the street, but it is only half an hour’s drive away, and with some intriguing shows coming up in the next month, you’re definitely going to want to book some tickets. Whether you have a taste for magic, comedy, or music, Sands has you covered with these upcoming events.

April 14 – The Illusionists

Do you believe in magic? After seeing The Illusionists, you very well might. With this family-friendly show, straight from Broadway, you don’t get just one magic act – you get seven. Featuring more than half a dozen performers working in all sorts of magic genres, there are tricks that will delight anyone of any age. From the shock illusions of Dan Sperry to the death-defying escapes of Andrew Basso, you’ll be holding your breath in suspense and disbelief!

April 23 – Brit Floyd

Shine on the dark side of the moon with this great gig at Sands. Billed as “the world’s greatest Pink Floyd tribute show,” Brit Floyd brings all the classics to the current generation. Expect to hear such greats as “Us and Them,” “Time,” and of course, “Comfortably Numb.” With all those songs performed by a professional band and backup singers, and an impressive visual show to go along with it, you’ll wish you were there.

May 6 – Jim Norton

Comedian Jim Norton made his name as a guest on the popular radio show, “Opie and Anthony”. This stop at Sands is part of his “Mouthful of Shame” tour, which sums up his comedy style pretty well. Norton’s brand of comedy mixes crudeness and self-deprecation in an act that’s decidedly not appropriate for the children. Recently, Norton has appeared on shows such as “Inside Amy Schumer” and “Louie”.

May 7 – Lewis Black

Maybe you like your comedy a little angrier and more politically charged. If that’s the case, you might prefer seeing Lewis Black when he performs at Sands on May 7. Black is best known for his recurring appearances on “The Daily Show”, as well as his hour-long comedy specials on Comedy Central and HBO. Tellingly, he recently performed voice work for the Pixar film, “Inside Out”, as a character named “Hate”. But, don’t let Black’s anger fool you – he’s also seriously funny.

May 11 – Ellie Goulding

English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding hits Sands in support of her newest album, “Delirium”, which has all the electronic beats you’d expect of a hit musician today. While Goulding is arguably more popular in her home country, you’ve surely heard the ear worm “Love Me Like You Do”, which was featured in the movie, “50 Shades of Grey” and was a massive hit worldwide. You should also expect to also hear recent hits “Something in the Way You Move” and “On My Mind”. If you weren’t already a “Goulddigger” (seriously, that’s what her fans call themselves), you will be after this performance.

These shows are hot, and they’re bound to sell out soon. So, if any of them pique your interest, make sure you book your tickets ASAP!
